is the acronym of the project „Distribution potential of different fungal trophic groups in Europe“ supported by the Slovak research and development agency project no. APVV-15-0210.
The research objectives are selected model groups of fungi with different trophic strategies – ectomycorrhizal, parasitic and lichenised fungi. Occurrence of fungi with various trophic strategies depends primarily on presence of suitable substrate or associated (host or partner) plant. Fungal distribution areas are known not to copy distribution of its hosts (partners). Fungal distribution areas are known not to copy distribution of its hosts (partners). Their distribution is limited by complex of ecological, climatic and geographic factors. We want to disclose a relation of trophic strategy and corresponding adaptations mechanisms with flexibility of fungi to inhabit various climatic zones or geographical areas.
Main goal of the project
is to identify geographical elements within each trophic group and to specify geographical factors that influence their distribution areas. We seek to study how fungi with different trophic strategies interact with various environmental factors. Possible interaction of distribution areas with future climate scenarios will be traced.
