Flora of Slovakia (Flóra Slovenska)
Flora of Slovakia belongs to the basic botanical works whose actuality is unlimited in terms of time. It comprises descriptions, determination keys, notes on nomenclatural and taxonomic peculiarities, on the biology, ecology and vegetation science of all species that are autochthonous, wild-growing and domesticated in Slovakia.
The Flora of Slovakia aims mainly at comprehensively examining the flora of Slovakia, at handling complex systematic issues of the development and variability of the Pannonian and Carpathian flora and its specifity with the help of up-to-date gene pool, keeping track of the reasons of its decay etc. Work on the 7 Volumes of "Flora of Slovakia" started under the supervision of dr. J. Futák and has continued since 1981 under the supervision of Dr. L. Bertová.

The Geobotanical map as a complete work on vegetation will, in our opinion, reflect the level of science and culture of the Slovak nation. It is a major project for our region and at the same time, a constituent of the wider national mapping project.
The Map presents the major part of the relatively well-preserved vegetation of the Western Carpathians characterized by great extent of woodland, geological and pedological variability, large elevational range, and articulated relief. Of great importance is also the knowledge of the vertical and horizontal stratification of the vegetation in Slovakia, its relations to bed-rock, soil types, etc.
