In the Institute of Botany in honour of Ján Futák (1914–1980), the founder of modern taxonomic botany in Slovakia Ján Futák Botanical Association was established. The aim of the Association is to support research work in every field of botany in Slovakia. Some of the purposes include the support of:

• development of all botanical disciplines
• projects with the perspectives of new findings in botany
• study stays of young Slovak botanists in institutions abroad
• acceptance of postgraduate students from abroad in the institutions in Slovakia
• publishing botanical scientific papers and monographs
• participation of Slovak botanists in international scientific meetings home and abroad
• organization of botanical scientific seminars, workshops, courses and conferences

Association also participates in scientific project: REMORAVA (in cooperation with Institute of Zoology SAS)

All friends and sponsors, individual or institutions are kindly asked to contribute with financial or any other kind of support and, to become member of the Association. The members have rights of:

• being informed about and taking part in the activities of the Association
• being elected the members of the Association Board
• submitting the proposals for utililization of the Association finances
• taking part in the Association conferences
